Bobo Races On the Tricky Triangle – Concetta M. Payne
BoBo and his friends are back again to compete in an even bigger and better race this time. Pocono Raceway announced their Big Pocono 500 for all racecars. This is so exciting and so amazing that BoBo hoped all of his friends would join him again this year to compete. Last year he tried really hard and did not win the competition even after working his hardest to prepare for it he never made it to the winner’s circle. But, BoBo would not give up and with his positive attitude and his dream of standing in that winner’s circle, BoBo made the calls to his friends hoping they would race too. Big Foot and Saber were available to race but Gator could not.
This race would be much more difficult for these amazing race cars to compete it and once again our author brings the world of racing alive to the reader in her great descriptions of the cars, the thrill of watching them compete and the understanding that practice is important before beginning any big event. Even more is working together and making sure that your car is in the best mechanical condition.
BoBo is a kind and wonderful friend and would not want to compete in any event without his three friends. Even though Gator could not be there, they all knew he would have them in his thoughts and wished them good luck. But, just how tricky was this track? Just how prepared were they? Their engines performed during practice without any problems, their cars were in top shape but you never know what could happen.
As the announcer told the cars to start their engines the race was about to begin with the pace car moving out of the way, the unthinkable happens to BoBo as he watches the other cars speed by. His engine overheated and he did not know if he would finish the race. Poor BoBo worked so hard and would be disappointed.
Pulling into the pit he could only hope that the mechanics could fix his engine in time before another car crossed the finish line. The suspense is great and the ending you won’t believe. Just what happens to BoBo and who wins the race you will have to read for yourself. The ending will once again renew your faith in friendships, loyalty and the will to believe in yourself.
Author Concetta M Payne has brought to light the true meaning of friendship, teamwork and concern for another person, or in this case, car. BoBo and his friends are great role models for kids to read about and learn the meaning of sportsmanship, fair play and that winning is not everything, but it would be nice if you did. Let’s hope the author brings them back for few more competitions in many more books for us read and of course for me to review.
This book is a perfect resource for classroom libraries and a great way to encourage children to write their own version of the story using the pictures. Just imagine what they would write for BoBo and his friends.
This book gets a five flag review.
